About the Journal
Scripta Scientia (ISSN: 3134-5824) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by the ChauxLab Institute. Our mission is to transform scientific communication in medicine and health sciences by offering a platform that combines traditional academic rigor with state-of-the-art dissemination tools.
Unlike conventional journals, we do not limit ourselves to hosting static documents. We offer a publishing ecosystem designed to maximize the visibility and impact of each research contribution in the digital age.
Premium Editorial Experience: Beyond the PDF
We understand that modern research requires modern formats. Scripta Scientia is distinguished by offering a professional editorial production service that includes:
- Multi-device formats: We do not perform simple file conversions. We use professional typesetting to provide versions in PDF (for printing and archiving), responsive HTML (optimized for web reading on mobile devices and browsers), and ePub (for fluid reading on mobile devices and tablets).
- Scientific podcast (audio summaries): Leveraging supervised AI technologies, we produce an exclusive podcast episode for each article, allowing research to be «heard» and shared across new platforms.
Technological Transparency: Augmented Intelligence with Human Oversight
At Scripta Scientia, we embrace technology to eliminate bureaucratic inefficiencies, but never to replace scientific judgment. We use advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools for editorial processing tasks, such as:
- Preliminary technical translation (Spanish/English).
- Draft generation for podcasts.
- Dissemination summaries for social media.
Human-in-the-Loop Guarantee: We apply a strict human oversight protocol. No content generated or processed by AI is published without the final verification and validation of a qualified human editor. AI is our assistance tool; editorial and ethical responsibility always rests with our team. Important note: The peer review process and editorial decision-making (acceptance/rejection) are performed exclusively by human experts. We never use AI to evaluate the scientific quality of a manuscript.
Evaluation Process and Editorial Timelines
We implement a rigorous yet agile review system designed to respect authors' time.
- Peer review: We use a double-blind peer review system. Neither authors nor reviewers are aware of each other's identities.
- 7-day policy: Our editorial standard is to ask expert reviewers to complete their evaluation within 7 calendar days. We encourage focused reviews centered on methodological and ethical soundness, avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.
Response timelines (editorial commitment):
- Pre-check (editorial screening): 24 to 48 hours. The editor-in-chief or executive editor determines whether the manuscript meets the journal's scope and basic standards. If approved, it proceeds immediately to external review.
- Decision after review: Thanks to our short-deadline policy, our goal is to deliver an editorial decision and reviewer reports within an average of 2 to 3 weeks from submission.
- Production and publication: 48 to 72 hours after final acceptance.
Objective: For high-quality manuscripts requiring only minor revisions, the total time from submission to online publication (with DOI) is approximately 3 weeks.
Scientific Integrity and Editorial Ethics
The credibility of science is our most valuable asset. Scripta Scientia maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward scientific misconduct.
- COPE adherence: We strictly follow the guidelines and Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling conflicts of interest, authorship disputes, and post-publication corrections.
- Plagiarism detection: All submitted manuscripts are systematically subjected to an originality analysis using specialized software (Crossref Similarity Check).
Any submission presenting unacceptable levels of textual similarity without proper citation, or evidence of plagiarism, self-plagiarism («salami slicing»), or data manipulation, will be rejected in limine.
If plagiarism is detected at an advanced stage or after publication, we reserve the right to issue a formal public retraction of the article.
Article Types
We welcome contributions in the areas of Health Sciences, Bioethics, and Research Methodology under the following categories:
- Open submissions: Sections available for unsolicited submission by the scientific community.
- Original articles: Empirical research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) with a complete IMRAD structure.
- Review articles: Systematic reviews (with or without meta-analysis), integrative reviews, and narrative reviews.
- Case reports: Description of clinical cases with educational value, atypical presentations, or new adverse effects, following CARE guidelines.

- Brief communications: Concise reports of preliminary results or specific high-impact findings.

- Editorials: Analysis of current issues or institutional commentary.
⚠️ Exclusion criteria (what we do NOT publish): To maintain scientific and methodological rigor, the journal will reject the following in limine (without proceeding to review):
- Unsolicited opinion articles: Free-form essays submitted without prior invitation.
- Monographs: Academic or degree-level works not adapted to the scientific article format.
Publication Frequency and Access
We operate under a continuous publication model. Articles are published individually and immediately upon final production. All content is available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC BY 4.0), ensuring that authors retain their rights.
Diamond Open Access: Publication at No Cost to Authors
Scripta Scientia operates under the diamond open-access model. Publication is entirely free for authors: no submission fees, evaluation fees, or article processing charges (APCs) are applied at any stage of the editorial process. This model reflects the ChauxLab Institute's commitment to equitable and accessible science for the entire research community, regardless of economic capacity or institutional affiliation.
Preservation and Archiving
The journal ensures the permanence of its content through the distributed archiving systems LOCKSS and PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
